"Fishing Fever" 3rd Edition, is a guide to sport fishing along the Lower Fraser River between Mission and Hope, in British Columbia, Canada. Fishers may engage in bar fishing, creek mouth fishing, or fishing along one of the many sloughs or tributaries of the Fraser River. Method of fishing may vary - the fly fisher, bar fisher, or troller will find a place to go in this book. "Fishing Fever" instructs in which methods of fishing to use when fishing the Lower Fraser River. "Fishing Fever" guides the fisher to fishing sites, provides information to public access on the Fraser River, and provides information of which species of fish - Pacific Salmon, Trout and Steelhead, and Sturgeon - are usually caught at each site and when. Cartop and trailer boat launching sites are also identified. "Fishing Fever" is the first authoritative book on the subject of public access to the Fraser River for sport fishers. "Fishing Fever" identifies legal public access and private allowed access at May 2007, before any final treaties between First Nations and the Provincial Government. First Nations and the Provincial Government have ongoing treaty negotiations at this time. As the talks evolve, land and access issues will be resolved. Federal topographic maps (NTS) at the beginning of each chapter of "Fishing Fever" indicate the location of Indian Reserves so that sport fishers can avoid trespassing on First Nations private property. The Fraser River fishery is a shared resource. All parties must co-exist and strive to provide opportunity for the next generation. The author, Eileen McGuire, has extensive training and experience in natural resource inventory, specifically in river and stream inventory, in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia. Fisheries agencies and local fishers have contributed expert advice on fishing prospects at each fishing site described in "Fishing Fever". Contributors have written articles for "Fishing Fever" on WHEN and HOW to fish the Lower Fraser River. |
